.: Installing
If you have downloaded an installer-version the only thing you need to do after downloading is to run it. During the installation the program will ask you to point to a location where an important file is located that is part of the original Duke3D game, namely duke3d.grp. This file contains all original graphics, levels, sounds and music from the game. You are also able to choose for the installation of EDuke32 (OpenGL port), the mod SD_Duke (fixing numerous graphical issues and supplying better effects) and maphacks for either the Atomic Edition or the standard edition.

When downloaded a zip-version, extract it in a new folder and download the latest EDuke32 version (snapshots recommended, get the latest one here). Extract the zip-file with EDuke32 in it and place the files in the same directory as you have placed the HRP. Now place the file duke3d.grp in the same folder, you can find the file on either the installation disc of the original game or at another installation of Duke3D. Run eduke32.exe.

At first start-up, the program will ask if you would like to enable on-disk texture cache which is seriously recommended unless you're very short on harddisk space. Next question is if you would like the program to check on new releases at start-up. Next is an optionscreen in which you can setup the configuration. When done click "OK" and the game will launch.
